A dear friend has had his life turned upside down. And I know what that’s like. Most of us know what that’s like.
When the people, and the jobs, and the identities and icons that we’ve used as reference points for our worth become destabilized then our fundamental sense of identity feels at stake.
I sent my friend a word of encouragement and thought I would share it here, with you.
May you be encouraged
May you share these words and themes with those in your life who need encouragement today
Worth
you could write the most beautiful songs to soothe aching souls
you could invent a cure for all our ills
you could earn the favor of kings and women
and it may not add a spoonful to your sense of worthiness
Worthiness is unmoved by success and impact
it’s agnostic to your good influence, your power, your ability
Worthiness pays no mind to accolades and it does not faint with failures
Worthiness does not look for nods from gods and those who presided over love, who themselves did not know it
Worthiness is your birthright
it’s been there all along and somehow still needs mining to unearth its countless treasures
it looks at you in your most forsaken and desperate position and exclaims: you belong, you are loved
it sees you as you ascend self-constructed pedestals and declares: none of this is necessary - enjoy and steward what is yours, but know that accolades and achievements don’t move me
Worthiness is the great unmoved, unbothered
Worthiness likes you and invites you to join in
